There are some changes at Big Smoke HQ re: our online creative writing courses – we’re going interactive! From September onwards our online courses will be conducted through a (very straightforward and easy-to-use) forum rather than 1-to-1 email – individual critiques etc will still be available and we’ll still be able to accommodate anyone who needs a bit of extra time if something comes up.
Over the summer our Kickstart Creative Writing class (designed for anyone who needs a bit of a creative boost and deadlines to get them going!) will run using this new format, for 8 weeks from Monday 1st July (finishing Sunday 25th August). In addition to the weekly modules and feedback from tutors, you can also check into the discussion threads and see how your fellow participants are getting on, and swap work and tips if so inclined.
As a special offer, you can book into this course with 25% off the price using this link until midnight (GMT) Thurs June 27th.
Other online courses:
If you’d like to book into one of our other online courses for 1-to-1 email, please do so by the first week of July – after this we’ll be taking bookings for September. These are:
- Beginning to Write
- Write The Play
- Starting a Novel
- Introduction to Memoir
- Introduction to Children’s Fiction
- Beginning To Write Poetry
- Developing Your Fiction Project
For teens this summer, our online Teens Creative Writing is available, also starting Monday July 1st. DYA will return on Saturdays in October.
Autumn/winter courses on Harcourt St:
Our September/October course schedule will be making its way online in the next few days. Please note that dates have already been set and booking is open for the following specialist workshops:

That’s all from us for now – do get in touch if you’ve any queries about these courses!
