This one-day workshop covers everything you need to know about crime fiction – from the history of the genre to how to write it well. All forms of crime – police procedural, PI, domestic suspense, thriller, cosy mystery, noir – will be explored and participants will learn how to develop plots, write compelling dialogue, and build suspense.
Open to beginners as well as those with some experience looking to develop their knowledge of crime fiction.
Declan Hughes is the author of the Ed Loy series and All The Things You Are, as well as being the co-founder of the Rough Magic theatre company and an experienced playwright. He has been writer-in-residence for Rough Magic, the Abbey Theatre, and Trinity College Dublin, and is currently teaching at UCD.
