This introduction to creative writing explores a range of topics, including characterisation, plot, setting a scene, and revising and editing. Through writing exercises and examples from literature, participants will develop an awareness of various poetic and literary tools and techniques, and become more comfortable putting pen to paper to express themselves creatively.
Each module consists of material for the beginning writer to read and exercises to try out. At the end of each module, they should have pieces of work to submit to the tutor for feedback. This is a six-module course designed to be completed over six-eight weeks.
Students can sign up for and begin this course at any stage during the year.
